Hello and welcome. This blog is an addendum to my portfolio blog available at davidleecuthbert@blogspot.com.

On this site you will find a sampling of some of my Scenic Designs over the years. I began my career as a Lighting Designer, and have taken on more projection and scenic designs as time has gone on, frequently production designing when the occasion called. My sets tend to take light and media well for obvious reasons, and reflect a slightly unorthodox approach to story telling with a sense of humor. I hope you enjoy the following images.

Romeo and Juliet at Arizona Theater Company

For this collaboration with Director Kirsten Brandt, we worked to create a seamless world, employing automated scenery, and large scale projections to move transitions along without break.  I created the Scenic, Media, and Lighting Designs. Set in Verona of 1960, we emphasized the youth movement against authority, and created a project that appealed to season theater patrons, as well as thousands of teenagers who saw the production through school matinees.
